Elche Living Nativity - On until the 6th January
by Jan » Fri Dec 26, 2014 11:42 am
Elche is holding its famous Living Nativity, by the palace of Altamira in Elche, which started on Christmas day and will last until the 6th January 2015.
Sounds like a wonderful event!
All times and days are on this poster:
Basic translation of the event is shown here:
XXXIV Living Nativity
Immersed in the Palm of Elche, World Heritage Site since 1981 Settlers of Elche staged their particular living nativity scene . And we say particular because it has a number of features that differentiate it clearly from the rest of Living Nativity that are represented throughout the national territory.
If the purpose of this association is to promote the history of the classical civilizations that passed through the Spanish east, thus forming us as the sum of all these cultures , the Living Nativity could not be otherwise . Besides representing biblical passages , it is full of many historic touches , offering a vision both of religion , and the historical period in which it happened.
Amid the Palm of Elche, Heritage , specifically in the area of Traspalacio , by the Palace of Altamira , more than 40 actors occupy a scenic area of almost 3,000 square meters which give life to Roman legionnaires , kings, concubines , clerks, shopkeepers, innkeepers , preachers , thieves, lepers and a host of characters who are continually giving life to the city of Bethlehem year 1 AD.
Friday 26th December - 18:30-20:30hrs
Saturday 27th, Saturday 28th & Monday 29th December - 11:00-14:00hrs and 18:30-20:30hrs
Friday January 2nd - 18:30-20:30hrs
Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th January - 11:00-14:00hrs and 18:30-20:30hrs
