Cl@ve and DGT Site Navigation

Postby Phil_pjb » Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:05 pm

Hello all.

I sold a car recently and used a company to do this form me. OneWayServices in Quesada. They were fine, no problem. They provided a document named RECIBO DE PRESENTACIÓN EN OFICINA DE REGISTRO

I cancelled the insurance as I had no other car to transfer the insurance to, which again, wasn't an issue, but to get a refund on the insurance, Rightmove insurance advise that Liberty Insurance want a Justificante de vente - a specific document which can be obtained through the DGT website, so i went to DGT.

To get on to DGT you need to have Cl@ve, to have Cl@ve you need to have a DNI/NIE (I have an NIE) and the "Document number", but there is no document number on my NIE.

So typical Spain, I can't get on Cl@ve, so can't get on DGT, so can't get my document, so can't get the refund.

Any help would be most welcome. I may even buy you a wine if I get the money back! ha ha

It's probably the E number on top corner of your TIE you need to enter

I have an NIE, not a TIE which I think is the problem.

Not sure what a Justificante de vente is but when I sold a car about a year ago the buyer sent me a copy of the new Permis de Circulacion with his name and that was enough for Liberty Seguros to give me a refund on the insurance.

Absolutely not!

NIE anybody Tom Dick or Harry can have, TIE is the post Brexit residence card.

Couldn't be more different.

I’ve been referred to as one of those names before, and it wasn’t Harry!

I’m not resident, no TIE, just a mere NIE owner.

I’ve tried the new logbook owner which was kindly recommended

These sites require you to enter the support number (numero de soporte) which are only on the TIE (foreigners' ID card) and the DNI (Spanish ID card) and the green card (EU citizens register) but not on the NIE which is simply like the UK NI number. It is an E followed by 8 numbers so if you only have an NIE then you can't enter a support number.

Could you physically go to the DGT in Elche and ask for the document you require?

Elche is another option, I’ve got the new logbook, still give that a whirl with my names Tom, and Harry, see where we get.

Thanks all y’all
