How to apply for an NIE in uk please

We are wanting to buy a house in Spain please can anyone tell me how to apply for an NIE in England? Please. Or how I do this in Spain.

You can get one from the Spanish Embassy in the UK. It's easier if there is one near you. We obtained ours from the one in London but there is another in Edinburgh as far as I know and there may be others. If you look at the Spanish Embassy UK website you can find out more.

When you buy your house in Spain the estate agent or solicitor you use will apply for the NIE for you

no need for nie numbers until you are ready and this can be done at the time of purchase in spain,as you will need at least 1/2 visits to spain.for ease we signed power of attorney to our agent and he sorted everything for us , no probs at all.happy hunting

Also be aware your NIE although for life now unless you become resident you must renew after three months if anyone insists,Traffico are doing this now so if you are going to buy a car bear this in mind most others don't bother at present.

If you want to do this your self look in costa blanca news ther is always someone advertising this service and cheaper than a solicitor

I have had my NIE for near 11 years never renewed it once, but at one stage the padron had to be renewed but if like me you are a non resident not able to replace padron.

Hi Pete people with older NIE's do not have to renew but after a certain date not sure when ALL new NIE's certificates are only valid for three months it says so on the bottom of the certificate.
