Obtaining NIE number

Obtaining NIE number

Postby Pinkbabytots » Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:25 am

Hi there,

I'm looking to obtain my NIE number, can anyone please confirm the process, cost etc and whether it's worth using an agent. I have heard that the quickest way is through a Notary but not sure on costs and whether it is in fact any quicker.

Thanks in advance,

Tracey

You can do through various agents etc and all are OK in general, or if you have a little time you can do yourself which i did, cost wise it cost me €7-50,plus about 2 hours over 2 week period. As for other costs we had various quotes as much as €250!!
All the best

Hi

We recently got our NIE and used Right Move in Quesada Donna was very good and the cost was Euro 65 each- They made appointment for us and told us what we needed for them to arrange they then sorted all paperwork and on the day we just followed them in our car and just needed Passport and 2 Passport photos and Padron

We were there for about 10 mins and picked up NIE paperwork following day

All very easy and quick they know whats needed and doing so yes may cost but at least all done correctly and so so easy

The notary applied for ours. We arranged for him to do this when we signed for the house. 100€ each but he did all the work, interviews etc. Just sent us the certificate through email when we were back in the uk.

Are you sure it was the notary that did this? Normally it's an abogado.

Not used to this legal jargon lol. It was the lawyer who dealt with the legal stuff when we were buying our apartment. Is the notary a different person? It was the office with a large sign outside saying notary.

Typically, an Abogado (solicitor) will do the leg work and then it has to be certified by a Notary. For example, when we made our Spanish wills, our Spanish solicitor (abogado) wrote them in both Spanish and English, reflecting our wishes, and then took them (with us) to the Notary to have them certified.

Notaries are common across mainland Europe, but we hardly use them in the UK. Notaries are
a highly specialised branch of the legal profession, whose area of expertise is the preparation and certification of documents, so that they may be used effectively abroad.

Hi, i am not a resident in spain, i only have a holiday home & last year i needed to renew my N.I.E.
certificate as i found they are only valid for 10 yrs. i needed a renewal cert. in order to purchase a spanish reg. car. after much hassle i did use an agent & they were brilliant , they arranged my appointment @
Elche Police station @ prearranged date & exact time to present my self . All i had to do was book my
flights . o.k it wasn't cheap, but well worth it. the Fee was 100 euros plus 16 euros Police Tax. the firm i
used was N.I.E. in 1 day. They also met me off plane with all paperwork prepared & ready . The 2
ladies running the service were Lynn & Joe , with a 3rd member of the team to escort me into the Police station on arrival & conduct the interview with me. I then had to return to police station later that day
to collect my certificate. the E/mail for these ladies ( niein1day ) i can't recollect their website. hope
this of assistance . Regards Vic & angela

There is no need to use a notary or solicitor to obtain your NIE and they tend to be more expensive.
There is Right Move (already mentioned) and One way services in Quesada who provide this service. I know that One way services charged €50 each last year and they take you to the police station.
