Just had notification from the SUMA office for Rojales Town Hall.
They have advised of a CATASTRAL AÑO ULTIMA REVISION : 1990.
They have taken the base Catastral value (value of land NOT of house) and increased it by 7%.
I believe this revision happens about every 10 years, it also appears that it is only the ROJALES town hall which have done this - not other areas.
Mine has increased by 35€. Not bad in 10 years ( my house was not built 10 years ago!!)

I'm surprised that they consider that land values have increased compared to 10 years ago. 2003/2004 was during the peak of the Spanish property boom and its been downhill ever since. Spanish property has hardly been a good investment compared to the UK.

It's only Rojales because other areas have done it/are doing it at different times. For example, those coming under Playa Flamenca town hall had theirs increased 3 years ago.
The valor catastral is the rateable value of the property and the tax you pay is based on that.
There was a website I was looking at (can't find it now but it was an Alicante government one with statistics for Rojales) which stated the last time property was valued in Rojales was 1990 so that's 24 years ago.

We have had a letter from hacienda, all in Spanish refers us to a web site
Which we have looked at but can't understand letter or website,
Had anyone else had one, and what does it mean, only bought our property last November.

Hi Blackvelvet,
We received a visit from a lady from the Hacienda 2 weeks ago. We were given a code number to access the Hacienda website (after we had shown her our passports). We accessed the site and it asks you to confirm that the details shown are correct for your property, it is basically the Square meterage of your property. We received a copy of the document in the post 2 days later. It basically said our valor catastral has been re-assessed from the 1st January 2015. I think we would have received the copy in the post without logging on to the website.
I think the document you have is most likely notification of the catastral increase.

SUMA is the name of the department that collects the taxes in the Valencia region.
I'm assuming, if you've just paid it and it's 45 euro, then that applies to the road tax for your car which is due now.
The other posts are referring to the IBI (council tax bills) which come out around September time.
