TAX

Re: TAX

Just to clarify I paid Spanish and UK tax for 2013 but the amount I paid in uk tax was deducted off my total earnings for that year when the Spanish tax was calculated. I wish I could pay my tax in UK but sadly I can’t as a Spanish resident

Hi Shemarg. My first year paying tax here was last year, all very new to me the bar room gossip said if you pay tax in the uk thats ok wrong. i was not aware of telling the HMRC so for that year my tax was paid in England i went to see a solicitor and she worked my tax out for Spain which i have paid in the 2 installments and since have had a refund but i have received my P60 from my ex employee telling me i have paid over £1000 tax there as well as over 2000 euros to the spanish tax office do i claim the english one back do u know.

Tax is liable in the country where the rental income is received so UK will continue to tax that. Same as if you were living in UK but renting out in Spain. You would pay Spain the rental tax and then declare it, with the amount of tax already paid, to the UK tax people.
She will need to complete the P85 before the private pensions are due to ensure that no tax is taken in UK and you don't get in the same situation as the poster who had to pay back taxes to 2013 once you get a rebate from UK.

The HMRC site says you should inform them and complete the P85 before moving abroad. By waiting, you will still be liable to tax in UK as they won't know.

That's brilliant Marcliff :text-thankyouyellow: Paul

SInce I bought a property in Rojales Hills in 2005, I have paid my SUMA Tax through my bank by Direct Debit every SEPTEMBER. The amount has been static over the last 3 years at 178.06E.

Today, I notice that a Direct Debit payment has been paid out of my bank account to SUMA for 78.36E. (9th April)

Does anybody know if SUMA charges are changing this year, to 2 half yearly payments? Has anybody else noticed any other changes, or have I missed some notification of changes?

It's your annual rubbish collection tax. It has been separated from your water bill and you will find your water bill has been reduced by about 19 euro a quarter.
