Algar waterfalls

Algar waterfalls

Can anyone who has been to the falls tell me if it is far to walk from the car park to the falls? We would love to go and see them but neither of us can walk very far.

To be brutally honest if you are not very good at walking it’s not really advisable to go here as its a fair walk from parkibg to the entrance and then lots of steps once you are inside

I went a few weeks ago and I’m fairly fit but my knees were killing me lol

I’m told that there’s a second entrance at the top that’s only open during summer and which bypasses the steps. Whether there’s parking up there, and now muck walking is involved when you enter from that point, I don’t know.

That's a shame! We avoid Spain in the summer so it sounds as though there will be too much walking involved. Oh well back to the drawing board. Thank you for replying.

There is parking on the top entrance. You go to the top part of the park but, if you want to see the falls and the best bits, there's lots of climbing down and then, of course, climbing back up.
A nice place on the flat is the Jalon valley. Jalon itself has good parking and quite long and flat walks along the river with lots of benches to sit and rest.
The valley is fantastic in Feb to Apr as it is covered in almond blossom and they also grow nisperos (which we call loquats) and it's quite interesting to see the way they are protected (even a little drop of rain can damage them). Plus several bodegas along the river bit where you can go in and sample the wares.

TBH, I'd avoid the falls if you aren't up to walking too far.

Thank you for the suggestion Marcliff. We will be in Spain in Feb/Mar so will make a note to go to Jalon when the blossom is out. I like the idea of visiting some of the bodegas along the way too :D .

Been trying to avoid that for as long as possible, but we might have to give it some serious thought soon. Cheers Jpeg.

I don't think that a mobility scooter would work at the falls either!
