Restaurant recommendation

Postby Gerryb94 » Mon Feb 14, 2022 10:16 pm

I know this is a very personal choice but would love some recommendations for a special night out for a birthday celebration. We’re based at La Marquesa so anywhere in the surrounding area? There will only be six of us so somewhere ‘a bit special’ appreciate your help, Gerry

I suppose it would depend on what type of food you like. The Banana Tree in Quesada is always nice for a special meal. Thai food is excellent and the setting is very good.

Teriyaki (sp?) marvellous for Japanese food and a very nice ambience.

There are some really good Italian restaurants as well.

Cooper's (inside restaurant) has a lovely menu if you like UK style food although not exactly a "special" place. At least it is a change from chips with everything but even the chips are triple cooked and really great.

Some of the "upmarket" ones are very nice for atmosphere but the food can be disappointing.

I suppose Torrevieja is too far away? If not then I would recommend the Yacht Club or El Muelle. (reservations necessary).

The good thing about Rojales/Quesada/Benijofar is that there are so many really nice restaurants to choose from.

Quite a few good local restaurants at around 20€ a head. We like Cosecha at Benijofar and Portico at Moncayo. There are more expensive ones but don't know them.
Cosecha has some specials on which takes cost up to around 35€ a head.

The Banana Tree has been closed for quite a few months now Marcliff. Premises have been emptied out and the talk/rumour is that Day and Night Restaurant are doing something with it. No idea if there is any truth in that. I expect somebody on here will know what's happening.

New restaurant Boka up by 24 hour supermarket is supposed to be quite nice opened a couple of weeks ago. Although yet to see any reviews on here.

I would second La Cosecha and Portico Mar for that step up from the ordinary . . . . (if its someones Birthday, let them know if its at Portico Mar for that little extra touch
)

Possibly the Argentina steak house at bottom end of golf course for good steaks etc.? (Turn left towards Rojales town centre and its on the right.)

Portico Mar is consistently good and can handle a couple of groups up to 70 successfully.

La Cosecha however, is hit and miss, especially when there are large groups in. At these times, the kitchen appears not to be able to cope and then, the whole restaurant suffers.
