San Juan 'Bonfires' (Hogueras) Fiesta in Torrevieja 2014

The San Juan 'Bonfires' (Hogueras) Fiesta is tonight in Torrevieja ( Tuesday 24th June 2014). The Burning (La Cremà), is the culmination of the 'Summer Solstice' festival, which is at midnight.

The celebrations start at 8pm with a children's fiesta and various other events, including a town BBQ, gift-giving and music, up until the main celebration of the bonfires around the town and beach at midnight.

By all accounts it is a spectacular evening and the fire service is there to keep everyone safe. Apparently it can get a bit wet with the fireman dousing the fires with their hoses but that's all part of the fun!
