Virgen del Carmen is the patron saint of fishermen and celebrations are held each year in the town of Torrevieja around the 16th July.
The 'Festividad Virgen del Carmen' in 2014 will be held on Wednesday the 16th July in the:
Muelle Pesquero
Paseo de la Libertad
Torrevieja.
The programme of events for that day are as follows:
During the early morning there will be a musical procession through the streets, with a band.
Followed at 11:30 am by a “cucaña” which is a traditional event involving a greasy pole with the following prizes: 1st € 60; 2nd € 50; 3rd and 4th € 40 and 5th 25 € each.
07.30pm. Celebration of the Eucharist, in the Temple of the Inmaculada church with the Municipal Choir
08.30 pm Solemn procession following the route: Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Concepción, Paseo Vista Alegre and fishing port, where the Patron Saint of the Virgen del Carmen will be put on to a fishing boat for the sea procession.
When the procession is finished, the Musical Union Torrevejense, together with the Orfeon Municipal choir, will sing the Salve Marinera.
Then there will be a big firework display in the grounds of the port dock, followed by the procession of the Virgin del Carmen around the Plaza Waldo Calero, Calle Chapaprieta and Calle Caballero de Rodas, until it finally gets back to the Inmaculada church.

Ooh thanks Jan, we are over in July but go . Home on the 18th
We always seem to miss the fiestas, we miss the Rojales one on 6th.
