As an earlier poster said - one of the keys is to find someone you're comfortable with. There are lots of tricks the more "unscrupulous" ones might use, such as taking you to several "shabby" properties in areas you're not particularly keen on before springing a "bargain" on you! This happened to friends of mine, but they were wise to it. When they went back to their hotel, they discovered the "bargain" apartment was actually €10,000 cheaper through a different agent!!!

(They didn't buy it, btw!)!!!
