Renting Property

How can I find out that the Property I am renting is Legal and the Owner is paying Tax on the rent we are paying ? The Owner is currently living in the UK.

Ask the owner to show you their lettings licence.

As for the tax...I'm not sure you'd be able to "demand" proof, as their tax affairs are none of your business...however you could ask them if they'd be kind enough to show you their stamped Modelo 210 forms.

If longterm rental no need for a licence but must have Energy Certificate and Habitation Certificate
