Moving to spain
by Louriddler » Fri Mar 16, 2018 10:23 am
Hi. I've just joined this group and looking for advice. We're wanting to move to Spain, before our youngest 2 start high school this September. One of our main issues is my youngest 10 has just been diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. He is on a minimum of 2 year injections of methotrexate. Currently they get delivered by special courier to our home. Is it possible to just buy the meds in Spain? With prescription? Would u recommend returning regularly to UK to keep in with specialoists?
Also our plan is to renovate properties and work our way up the market eventually hoping to provide holiday let's tailored to people with disabilities and sen. I'm a registered child minder in UK so they have a Spanish equivalent enabling me to offer sone respite for these families whilst on holiday.
Last question my partner is a builder. His speciality bathroom renovations including plastering and tiling. What trades are generally more required in Spain over others?
Thank you in advance

Some of the questions you ask might need specialist advice, so if I was you I would jump on a plane and visit the pharmacy, the Town Hall and Euromarina, or other builders. In the UK you should check with your doctor. I presume you have already looked at residency and the plus and downsides of that?

Thanks,

Upgrading of bathrooms and kitchens is something that is done regularly here so tiling is a popular requirement. Plastering not so much but gotalay wall finish is used everywhere which sometimes needs redoing due to dampness.

Usage of Methotrexate needs to be closely monitored with regular blood tests, it's a toxic drug, I have been prescribed it in the past,I would strongly recommend seeking advice on possible cost implications of having the drug prescribed in spain. It is thought that the water of salt lakes are beneficial to joint complaints, so your child may find some complimentary relief from the local waters.
