Second hand bookshops

Postby Halkei » Mon Mar 19, 2018 8:32 pm

It is going to be a while before I am going to be staying in Quesada, but I am following this site to get a feel of the place, As an avid reader, I am going to need to source some books when i am there for 3 months.
Any tips ??

Several stalls at the markets where you can buy or exchange books and they have a huge collection. The Post Box at Dona Pepa has a limited number of books which are sold for charity and there is a larger selection at the Post Room in the centre of town.

Ok thanks for the replies , pretty sure it would not be a problem. The visit is a long way off, I suppose I am just like a little kid waiting for a birthday or Christmas

I bought some today from the SATS shop in Benimar. They had a huge range, paperbacks 4 for €1 or hardbacks 3 for €1.

There is a library in Benijofar which is run by volunteers. They have a good selection of books to loan for free and sometimes have a sale to raise funds. They will accept books if you have spares or surplus ones. They are open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. It is across the road to the police station and next door to the medical centre.

The only problem about looking for secondhand books is that so many people are using their kindles and there are less and less newly released books....masses of the old books we have all read and reread by mistake. If you are coming from the U.K., go into your local library and join. You can then download all books onto your iPad, iPhone, etc. For no charge. For kindle downloads, you will have to acces Overdrive( also Library). You can also get audio books and magazines too.

Buying cheap books allows you to try different Authors instead of old favourites. You might be surprised. Some of the well known Authors' Books are expensive even on the Kindle.I mostly choose the 99p ones and have enjoyed nearly all of them. Save my money for an occasional Best Seller.
