Does anyone know what happens to the store next to the Hungarian restaurant ?

Yesterday I was outside at 1255 and it was in darkness (as in not closing up early but no sign of life at all) even though the sign stated closes at 1400 Domingos.

I was not the only one as I walked away another guy walked up to it and on the way back from town 2 more separate people got out their cars and tried to get in.

Hi...I am presuming you mean the "Gama" supermarket. As per the New ish Sunday trading laws in the Valencian regioin they cannot open on every Sunday and Holiday as before. I suggest you go in and ask to see their Holiday and Sunday trading schedule.

They have a website which details the various stores and opening hours:-

It's proper name is Jumerca as Gama simply means "range", as in range of goods.
Due to the new Valencian laws governing opening on Sundays, they no longer open every Sunday and, like other places including Habaneras, Zenia Boulevard, Carrefour etc, can only open a certain amount of Sundays and holidays.
The will now be closed every Sunday until June 10th and will then be open Sundays after that until after New Year when they will close again until June except for the Easter holidays when they are exempt.
Certain small shops are allowed to open Sundays.

Last Sunday, the fifteenth, was the first Sunday closure following Easter. Anyone shopping there on the eighth, my have assumed that the Gama had resumed Sunday openings.

Jumerca Gama is closed this Sunday and every Sunday until the middle of June. I've just been up there and they have a sign in the window. The website is supposed to say "opening hours on permitted Sundays and holidays" and there are no permitted Sundays now until then.
There are other shops open, though. I believe Johnson's is one and I think Supa Valu by the golf course. Probably others as well.
