SIP CARD
SIP CARD
by Stephen47 » Tue May 29, 2018 9:02 am
Hi just wondering if this is the norm in Rojales-Quesada.
We went to the clinic in Benijofar yesterday to get a SIP card to use at the local doctors only to be told we had to go over to the Ayuntamiento opposite. OK, no problem there. There we were asked to register by showing our home ownership contract as well as passports etc. We found this rather strange as when we lived in Gran Alacant all we had to show was our EU health card. As far as I understand we are registered here, paying all our local and national taxes.
Anybody had the same situation and know what the consequences of this registration are?

You can only get ehic from uk
At ayuntamiento it sounds like you were asked to sign onto the padron
To get sip card you will need residencia
To get residencia you need to prove income i.e works contract or pension details
Then the S1 form from uk if you are indeed pensioners
The spanish are really tightening up on health care eligibility now
You may need some legal advice, good luck

The EHIC does not qualify for a SIP card. If you are a resident, you need to transfer your healthcare from UK to Spain.
This area (Rojales) will allow you to have a temporary SIP card so you don't have to show your EHIC every time you visit a doctor.
Permanent SIP cards are only issued to residents who have a valid S1 from their country of origin if in the EU.
Temporary SIP cards are issued to those who are visiting for short periods and can last 3 or 6 months depending on the circumstances which is covered by the EHIC. Longer stays and the EHIC is not valid although Rojales will extend the temporary SIP card.
If, however, you have been working in Spain and paid into the social security system, the SIP card will be issued on the basis of that and the equivalent of the EHIC will be issued by Spain and not UK.
Proof of address and being on the padron is necessary in that case.

Yes in Rojales you need to show your Padron to renew your temporary SIP card if you are a non resident. This is quite nee I think because upto a year to 18 months ago you didn't need to renew your Padron every time you went for your SIP card
