Low Disk Space Warning pop up

Low Disk Space Warning pop up

Postby Lavender » Thu Jun 14, 2018 2:50 pm

Does anyone know how to stop the pop up saying Low Disk Space on Drive F ? It's driving me mad!!! I've googled how to stop it and followed the instructions but it still keeps popping up. I've emptied my waste bin, I've deleted all programmes I never use, deleted all emails and downloads, but it still keeps telling me I have low disk space. If anyone knows of an easy way to get rid of the damn thing please let me know. Thanks.

Have you tried a Disc Clean up?

After that you can defrag something or other.

You should find it in Windows administrative tools. Worth a try!

Sorry I`m not a computer boff, but I have done it on mine and now it does it automatically about once a week.

Is this a computer or a phone/tablet?
What operating system are you using?
When you use a File Explorer, what name does your F drive have?

Pete.

It's a laptop and Windows 10. Don't know what you mean about the name of F drive, how do I find it? Also I've done a disc clean etc.. It's so annoying and only started to happen a couple of days ago.

Chances are that if you look in File Explorer, the disk name will be shown as “System Reserved”. If this is the case then it’s a small portion of the disk that’s set aside of storing files that are used if you need to do a system restore. In this situation the contents of this drive shouldn’t be changing and none of your data, programs, emails, photos etc will be stored on it - which is why deleting things that are stored on your C drive will make no difference. The warning can safely be ignored.

There is a way to turn off these warnings, but it requires you to use a tool called Regedit, which is a powerful tool that can easily cause you problems if you use it incorrectly, so I’d advise that you just ignore the warnings.

If you do want to do this change, or get someone to do it for you, then here are the instructoons:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/555622/how-to-remove-the-low-disk-space-warning

If File Explorer shows the drive as something other than System Reserved, then it could be a removable disk such as an SD card or USB pen drive. In this case you should take a look at what you’re using this drive for and possibly remove it or delete data from it (or move the data to a different location).

You may want to try System Mechanic. Costs about £40, but sorts out all sorts of problems. I have just used it to kick start a computer full of junk programmes etc. You can do similar with Windows Utilies, but takes time, effort an knowledge

No need to pay for System Mechanic all the tools are already on your operating system if using Windows 10 there are plenty of troubleshooting programs there, use them
