Beach fires

what night is it that the Spanish light fires on the beach to celebrate the shortest night?

Beach fires are banned on most beaches and there are bylaws usually posted on most beach approaches to this effect [ same as no dogs ] but who takes any notice ..!

Do you mean the Burning of the Hogueras? If you look at Quesada Discussion (Fiestas etc) you will see when they will be set alight in Rojales. Look up Hogueras Torrevieja 2018 online and it will tell you when that one will be lit. They don't have them on the Beach in this area.

I remember watching them on the beach at Guardamar last year, but can’t remember the date.

There are fireworks on the Beach in Guardamar this Saturday. Look up Guardamar Hogueras 2018 and it give the Programme.

They've been banned in Torrevieja or at least on one of the beaches where they are held because apparently once it's all over large nails and other metal pieces are left in the sand. There will be a special police security lot checking the beaches out on the night.
