Yes thanks. That review is basically an advert and as we know advertisers make the product look great. Just looking for anyone with personal experience of them. Thanks anyway.

You should read the reviews on Amazon, which are generally very poor.
Many reports of the water container leaking, and the performance not being what people expected.

In places like the UK, where it’s not really cost effective to have aircon installed, I guess they have a use for the short period where the weather is fairly hot; but they’re just a waste of time and money in Spain.

The other think to think about with devices like this is the way they work. Evaporative coolers, often known as swamp coolers, increase the humidity in the area that’s being cooled. They don’t work well if the humidity is high anyway, and as they operate they increase the local humidity which reduces their own effectiveness. Increased humidity also reduces the human body’s own cooling system, as sweat can’t evaporate from the surface of the skin as effectively.
For an evaporative cooler to work well, it needs to have some air circulating into the room to keep local humidity down, which often reduces the cooling effect anyway.
If you do choose to get one then fill it up with ice cubes or water that’s been in the fridge, and stand it in a tray because the water container will probably leak.

If at all possible, you should go for a proper inverter aircon system that will provide cooling in summer and heating in winter.

Pete.

Large bowl of iced water with a fan behind it, it's how we kept the horses cool in their stables in the Army.
