Payment on Completion

Hi


We sold our Quesada villa about 10 days ago and wonder when we can expect to receive payment as the estate agents do not answer our emails and we are currently in the UK. All bills are paid on the property and there is no mortgage. The new owners are in residence.

Hoping someone can advise.

Surely it's your solicitors that handle that . . . The agents shouldn't get their hands on the money apart from their cut for selling . . .

You should be on a plane to Spain asap
Check with your solicitor now the money for the sale would have been handed over at the signing of the sale contract at the notaries office when the keys were handed over

Have been in contact with the agents again and have found out that the payment has been banked, but not how much. Trying to get a break down of this.

Can't go to Spain at present as have an elderly mother who is ill.

Get in touch with your bank

Your solicitor should know the exact net amount that has been transfered into your bank account. This should have happened within hours of the notary signing. Thats what happened with us 10 days ago

It seems to me that you did not use a solicitor to handle the sale. Some estate agents say they can do everything that a solicitor can do.
I hope you did not go for one that charged you a percentage of the sale. You should also ask them for a detailed breakdown of the charges.

The bank won't give us any information unfortunately. Have managed to get a breakdown of charges at last, but now we've been charged for a mortgage which we don't have!

Have queried this and waiting for a reply.

We used the estate agent's solicitors and had a fixed basic commission fee.

independent SOLICITOR or LAWYER! one that is NOT connected to the agent, did YOU use one of these?? please don't say you didn't, or else you will have lost out on a fortune from estate agents, some of which are NOT regulated and some don't follow all the rules. I would be worried stupid by now if that is what you have done. they will take off all kinds of fees, not to mention some untraceable cash, before giving you 'their' version of a sale price. In fact, I'm now sitting here worried for you. get on the gov.uk website, find a lawyer, and get in touch with that lawyer right now, good luck.

Can't do a great deal now as have to go to the Isle of Man tomorrow re my mum.
It was a solicitor in Almoradi through the estate agents. Apart from the mortgage discharge fee, they are holding onto 1,000 euros for anything that crops up when actually everything has paid.
