Flight delay cost extra at car hire company !

We hire a car when we go back to the uk , we gave Ryanair a chance but with 2 grandkids with us we were delayed 1hour 45 min this was going to take us into the out of hours time for the pick up of the car so I rang them from Alicante and explained , it was cheaper to stay at a hotel at East Midlands than it was to collect the car that night so we collected the next day and no charge from the hire company and a good nights sleep in the hotel after an horrendous flight with no water or soft drinks on board for the kids never again will I fly with Ryanair ,

Would change car hire company,been using Aqua Car for 15 years and never been charged for flight delay outward or inward bound. Indeed few years ago with the ash incident our flight gong back was delayed 24 hours and had car extra day and no additional charges were made.(we did phone and inform them that we would keep car extra day)

Sounds like a good idea to buy a car and use one of the airport parking companies to leave it at, but only if you are going out to spain for a few months at a time. Unfortunately, I have to wait a few more years before I am able to do this, so actually buying a car would not be cost effective.
