Ghost town

Re: Ghost town

There was a nice restaurant near us... but a bar a few doors away had artists who played their music so loud that we stopped going to the nice restaurant as we couldn't dine and talk...

I have no doubt others did too as it was a nice place..

The restaurant eventually closed...

If you want pounding music every night, why not buy in Benidorm..?

I don't want banging music every night that's a bit extreme I'm saying there should be some entertainment were the killjoy police don't show up i live near a bar and accept there's going to be noise soon there will be nothing around apart from restraunts so that will make you happy!!

I think most of you have gone off track with your own complaining. My initial post stipulated that the bar in question did have all the correct paperwork and licences etc. The point I am making is why do the Town Hall even bother to issue licences if music is banned because of all the moaning continuously from people. I also beg to differ about tourists you need a certain amount to come here otherwise this will impact financially and for your info we are residents and have been for over 10 years and we have seen the decline of the bars and restaurants! I would also like to add that in my experience the barking of dogs incessantly is worse than noise from bars but we have to put with that without anything being done!

call the police about the barking dogs, and they will investigate to see if anything can be done, which it can in some circumstances,

Hi...I find it interesting that you say you have been here 10 years and have seen a decline of bars and restaurants...where exactly because in my 20 plus years here the place has always been very busy...I accept that some bars and restaurants do close but I suspect thats down to poor management or other business matters. In fact what amazes me is that there always seems to be someone waiting to have a go at running a bar or restaurant. Just observing.

As a bar owner myself I think it unlikely any bar in the area has a music licence as to obtain one requires soundproofing double entry doors to mention only two requirements. So ... We just get on with it and hope for the best keep the levels down and finish before midnight. The local police will only visit if there's a complaint and they have to follow it up. The national police are a different matter! Unfortunately some of the complaints often come from other bar owners. After a while all this nonsense dies down again and we all get on with making a living.

The problem only exists because for far too long bar owners took the pee and allowed performers to indulge themselves with sound equipment more suited to a concert at Wembley stadium than a 200 m2 bar. In some cases they did it outside too, with sound carrying for miles. I like entertainment, I think a lot has been lost in the locality, to it's detriment but as I said the reason is clear.

I think the point about an artiste or whatever bringing enough speakers and amplifiers to service a major pop festival is a valid point.
OK, dangermouse, your first post (on here) and you state Spain is full of geriatrics who get up at dawn blahdee blahdee blah.
Sorry, I am getting on but I do like socialising, I do like staying up late and sleeping in in the morning.
What I don't like is having a speaker that's gone through a couple of amplifiers blasting out right next to me.
I love la Vida Sunset but it's a small place, about a dozen inside with 5 at the bar and it's packed, the seating outside probably gets another dozen or so but a speaker inside, by each door and a huge amplifier makes it a place I avoid now when it's performer night or karaoke night.
La Herradura in Los Montesinos has it just right, loud but not too loud music and indoors. Some of the ones in town do very well with music but not cranked up to stop number 11 after breaking 10.
Entertainment is fine, blasting out pop concerts is not and I can sympathise with some of the householders close by.
