You'd be better off ordering the seeds online. The Spanish aren't known for their love of spicey food. The garden centre in Villamartin sells the ornamental chilli plants. Hot but not really what you're after.

We would also be interested in buying such superhot chilli plants...have not yet found any local sources, got some slightly hot ones ( Bolivian rainbow type) last year at Valentines. Also tried growing some of the Superhots from seed last winter in Spain but my goodness they are incredibly slow to germinate and grow VERY slowly. We are thinking of bringing some plug plants out from UK instead. The 'World of Chillis' online sell good quality plugs of a wide range of Superhots.( Only deliver to UK). We are currently having success with a World of Chillis- sourced Chocolate Dougla and a Maruga Scorpion (in the UK greenhouse... ). It would be great if there was a Spanish source for the plants.

I tried superhots this year, but couldn't get any to germinate. I used a heated propagator as well. I've got loads of habaneros, scotch bonnet and cayenne types on the go though. I ordered my seeds in the UK, from Devon Chilli Farm, and a friend brought them over for me. I've never seen anything hot in any garden centre here. I'll try again at the end of September to get some of the superhots to germinate and, if they do, I'll overwinter them inside.

.
The ones we had took 4 weeks to germinate ( not all germinated, but a few did.) Used a heated propagator. But they were still totally miniscule plants 2 months later... ( growing inside..). Went back to UK for summer and passed the surviving handful to another chilli enthusiast in Quesada to see if he could grow them on . Last news was that 2 were still alive but hardly much bigger...! So very slow...!
Whereas the clutch of plugs from World of Chillies arrived UK house in Feb and nurtured on windowsill until Start May when they went to the greenhouse. Two of these ( The scorpion and Dougla ones) now doing really well , the others still coming along but nothing spectacular. Big difference we think on the Dougla and Scorpion is that those 2 are in selfwatering pots whereas the others are in ordinary pots.

I grown my own from seed. I’ve got one plant that’s at least seven years old. I grew it from a pack of Sainsbury’s Thai Birdseye chilies. It produces every year as long as I give it plenty of water and a weekly feed.
Hot, but not headbanging chilies.

Thanks for the replies, I had a go at growing from seed and only got a couple of plants to germinate but they got overwatered when I was away and died. I will give seeds another go
