I question that the shape has any influence on the taste, is it not more likely to do with the filling?.....
Is this the same butches just off Queasda High Street that sells Lincolnshire Sausages?
The original post states that it is Quesada butchers near Consum !

it is,
deep fried mars bars , never ad um,
square sausage from what I seen of it is more coarse in texture so would imagine it would break up if deep fried,
I once tried lorne sausage from a famouse sausage shop that was on tv in the uk,
it was to fatty and greasy when cooked, but the reason was, that I had cooked it too much (as I like meat well cooked) ,and rendered all the fat content out of the slice into liquid fat,
a pork butcher/sausage maker I know uses highly trimmed pork shoulders and loin ends, thus making a good meaty virtually fat free sausage, suitable for the slimming world market,.
