Rubberized Roof Terrace Paint

Rubberized Roof Terrace Paint

Postby Ian2009 » Sat Sep 22, 2018 3:50 pm

Hi - just wondered if anyone had used this? We have a tiled roof terrace and although the property is only 10 years old and has had no leaks I don't know if a membrane was used and I can see little signs of breakdown in the grout so thinking of using this from Leroy Merlin.

http://www.leroymerlin.es/fp/260703_ant ... cha=260703

Is it just a case of clean, clear any dust / grit and apply with a roller or do you have to put a primer or something down first?
Does it go on easily and any tips? TIA

It's good stuff ..I'm using it on my terrace..mine is made by Pinay and has fibre glass in it for added strength..BUT has to be done every year and sun gets to it

Thanks for that - I was told "every 2 year's" but suppose it varies slightly.
Do you use a rolled to apply and did you have to "seal" with a primer first?

Such a waste of good tiling to be covered in some rubberised stuff, for the sake of grouting, and ending up with a run down shack appearance. and you don’t even have leaks. What’s wrong with grout raking, a bit at a time, and regrouting, would look so much better. Your choice of course, good luck in what you decide

I agree - I much prefer the tiles - but we are only out a few weeks at a time with "long gaps" and it worries us that the grout is beginning to look "gritty" and is showing the odd crack and we dread arriving and finding a leak in the living accommodation below. The tiles are the small terracotta ones (about 11" x 5") so it would be a lot of raking. I may patch it and see how it goes for one more winter - with everything crossed.

I,m considering a regrout on similar tiles , but keep putting it off, would never go for the rubberised paint ,would,nt look good in my opinion, makes it look cheap and faulty,i,ve a lot of opened up grout cracks, neeeds to be done !

Glassman - would you regrout it yourself as it is so difficult to get anyone to do such a fiddly job and at my age the thought of a couple of days on my knees doing this is not appealing! Just wondered if anyone had actually found a tradesman who would tackle a regrout?
