Home security

Postby Littlegolfer » Tue Sep 25, 2018 12:12 am

Hi
I’m moving to Doña Pepa in February and for peace of mind I would like to install a security system. I will be renting. Is it possible to install a system with no damage to property and at reasonable cost?

When I first came out our alarm didn´t work. I rang several companies and they said I needed a new system.... several hundred euros

I rang Bsure and he said, "it can be reset, I´ll come and check", he did come and reset it... put in a new battery, checked all the sensors and charged me about 40 euros..

He saved me hundreds...

I still use them for an annual service..

Even a wireless alarm will leave some signs of fitting, and your landlord may not be too pleased. May also be unhappy if they receive a call to say that an alarm is going off and what are they going to do about it!

I’d speak to the landlord first. You never know, they might be considering getting one fitted themselves for the times when the property is unoccupied. It would also allow them to charge more rent to future tenants if it was left in place.
Get a quote, and some info from the potential installer about how it could be removed, then suggest to your landlord that they go halves with you on the cost (a reduction in rent would actually be their best option, assuming that they declare the income to the tax man). If the landlord isn’t interested then simply get them to agree to you having it fitted then removed when you leave.

Pete.
