Santa Pola social security.

I have been summoned to see a doctor at the Santa Pola hospital / health Centre / social security.
Has anybody been there?
What kind of a place is it?

It is a long way from home for me and I was wondering why there is nowhere closer for what appears to be a doctors check up.

Hi, seems a bit strange that you've been referred to Santa Pola public health center, have you asked why while living in Torrevieja?

Some towns have specialists that aren't available in other places. For example, when my wife needed a check up for an ear problem she had to attend the medical centre in Guardamar whereas the rheumatologist was at Torrevieja hospital.
Have you been referred for something specific?

I have been given the address Avienda Canalejas. No number.
I have been signed off work by my doctor long term.

Employers in Spain have the right to send you to a doctor, when you are off on long term sick leave, the cynical person would say it is to prevent employees from "swinging the lead" a less cynical person would say they are caring employers.
If the Social security doctor agrees with your doctors diagnosis then you have no problems, if he says that you are actually fit for work then prepare to be signed off sick leave and go back to work or lose your job.

The link that GA Insurance gave you is correct. It is on the junction of Avda Canalejas and is a big building so you can't miss it.

how good is your spanish ?

If it is poor or not to good, make sure you take an interpreter with you, Santa pola health center is nothing like Torrevieja Hospital. You will most likely need to speak Spanish from entry to leaving.
