Looking for someone to unblock roof terrace drain

Postby Shiva » Tue Oct 16, 2018 12:40 pm

Does anyone have contact details/recommendations for someone to unblock a roof terrace drain. Think it has got blocked up with stones and soil ( OH's roof top gardening habits, methinks) so very slow to drain after the heavy rain and I don't want it leaking into the ( recently painted!) house. Thanks!

How about using unblockarod. They've had good reports on this forum:

Hi Shiva, what did they tell you to do to prevent another blockage?

I think it probably involves restraining the OH in some way! Handcuffs or a straight jacket maybe?

Pete.

Hmm, interesting suggestions from PeteKnight there..., though seriously , it is really just maintenance, lifting up the drain cover (had to be unscrewed ) and physically clearing out all the gunge ; once the soil and sand and couple of little weeds that had taken up residence ( all that lovely soil for them to grow in ) were cleared out it drained beautifully. I would have tried having a go myself if I hadn't been able to get anyone in to do it but being a bit fainthearted about trying things like that for the first time I was reluctant to do so in case the drain was more complicated that it really turned out to be. I'll be keeping an eye on it ( and on the OH) in the future....
