Recycling

Recycling

Postby MaggieG » Fri Nov 16, 2018 1:32 pm

I have been recycling all plastic for some time now. I store it separately and my husband takes it to yellow plastic recycling bin at the tip Rojales. The last two times the lady at the tip has pointed him to one of the big bins there. There was other rubbish in these bins so they are not recycling. I want to report this but who do I report it to. It's no point in me washing plastic and storing separately if I wasting my time. Any ideas anyone of the rules here

We cut all our plastic up & put it into a plastic bottle. It’s amazing how much you can get in there.
It also makes more space when recycling.

Why do you take your recycling goods to the tip in Rojales when there are plenty of recycling bins in Quesada.

Because I live walking distance from the tip and that's where it all ends up!

I wonder if it is the same in Spain as it is in parts of the UK, where the local councils just dump the recyclable materials with general waste, as they feel they are not collecting enough of it to make a profit or even break even?

when you say 'the tip', do you mean the collection centre near the aqua park or is there another tip in Rojales ?

The depot near the aqua park is a collection centre where household and garden rubbish are taken but are not left there permanently. The real tip will be a landfill site several miles inland from here, not sure where it is. Whatever rubbish is in the yellow bin there has been put in by residents, tradesmen or even council workers.
The various recycling bins around the town will be emptied by a lorry and then taken directly to a recycling depot. There would be no point in taking the recycling waste to the collection point and then having to move it again.

It is great that we recycle but you dont need to wash the plastic at home, you use more soup and water that they do.
So I would say not to wash it
