SIP CARD -He say NO !

Re: SIP CARD -He say NO !

So another day and a different person on the desk, but still no SIP cards.

To cut a long story short, this time we were advised to go to INSS Orihuela though we probably wouldn't have much success there ! When I queried this and explained what the gentleman had said on our previous visit (go to Torrevieja),the Lady said we wouldn't have much luck there either ! So we asked what in all honesty we should do,to be told come back mid January and you should be OK ?

So that's it really, back again in January and hope they've fully recovered from The Three Kings celebrations (and can provide a service).

A British Lady who turned up at the desk just after was told the same story,so at least we have the comfort of knowing it wasn't only us being turned away.

All tied up with Brexit who knows, though the Lady on the desk did refer to it a couple of times ?

Hi to clear this matter up with the SIP card they are correct in telling you to go to the SS office in Orihuela or Torrevieja with your paperwork. It's easy just phone and make an appointment or do the same on the Internet on the SS website the time and date ( which you can choose ) or just go and get a ticket on the day.
Once you have an appointment wait for your time take your papers to the person and within 24 hours you can pick your card up at your local Health center.

Its got nothing to do with Brexit.
They may take our lives but they will never take our FREEDOM

Someone on a previous posting mentioned the possible Brexit link,I personally don't think it's that also
solwayiceman.

More likely to be that both the INSS offices mentioned are pretty busy (hence the comments about probably having no luck),and of course the Christmas/3 Kings holiday period is almost upon us.

We will get there with the SIP cards I'm sure, thanks for the advice as it will be helpful in the new year.

Don't know how Brexit can affect it , as no deal or agreements be struck yet,

Have we cracked, getting an elusive SIP card ?

A trip to the Town Hall today,to hopefully catch the return of the Lady who normally deals with SIP cards/S1's. She was in attendance and we had all the paperwork,so the signs appeared pretty good ?

Anyway to cut a long story short the relevant documents were handed over (S1's/Residencia/Padron etc,and the Lady went off to make copies. On return she said the Padron needed updating (just over the required date apparently),so a trip to the first floor was needed and a possible long wait as it's usually busy.On return the new Padron was copied, and we were told to return in a months time.We asked about a temporary SIP card but the Lady said she couldn't issue one,and even though we mentioned that our Private Health Policies had been cancelled (run from 1st January) she insisted no temporary one could be supplied.Strange that, but there you are ?

So finally there may be light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully returning to the Town Hall in early February might provide us with that fabled SIP card we've heard so much about ?

Glassman,
The spanish pm has said fairly recently that laws are being passed this month to ensure that even a no deal brexit will not change the status of brits living in Spain
The Uk have long ago stated that they will continue the S1 system too
I think there tends to a few remainer biased comments on these sort of subjects without people knowing what’s going on or knowing but not saying ?
When we arranged permanent SIP cards we did through a lady who does that sort of procedure for a living, it was well worth the cost

This was in the newspapers last November

British rights in Spain ’to be DEFENDED in no-deal Brexit’ - BREXPAT BOOST

SPAIN is preparing a law to allow millions of British holidaymakers to visit without a visa and ensure expats maintain access to health care in the event of a no-deal Brexit, in a move which has been welcomed by Britons abroad.

WHY ?did you cancel your Private Medical Insurance before you got your SIPcard, ,that's not the lady's problem issuing the Sip card ,can you not reinstate it until card arrives,?

Why ? surely a statement from the Spanish PM is reliable and publicly issued government papers are reliable
There are instances when we have to believe what we read otherwise we know nothing, surely the only way we can educate and inform ourselves is to do research and yes, not to listen to rumour or gossip but to facts and facts only
