SIP CARD -He say NO !
SIP CARD -He say NO !
by viking » Mon Dec 17, 2018 1:37 pm
Hi
This morning armed with all the relevant documentation (S1s/Residencias/Passports/NIEs etc),we went along to Rojales Council Offices to see the Lady under the stairs. The Lady actually turned out to be a Man,who was obviously engrossed in his reading when we stood at his small counter.Eventually he managed to look up,and we explained we were after SIP cards to go on the Spanish Health system.
Sadly despite having all the documentation needed, the gentleman quickly told us to come back on the 11th January or thereabouts. We obviously queried this date as it's still some time off,but he again said that was the date. However he did say if we went to the Social Security Office in Torrevieja (appointments needed) and got the S1s registered,it might be possible for it to be " maybe a little earlier" ?
I think I read somewhere that appointments are generally needed for Social Security (online system),and that there can be quite a considerable wait date-wise ? Does this sound correct, and does the reluctance of the gentleman to process the SIP cards amount to normal practice ? We obviously thought that we would be in and out in no time, armed with at least temporary SIP cards while waiting for the permanent versions later.Sadly this wasn't the case, and now we are wondering if it was just the gentleman himself (instead of the usual Lady)who couldn't be bothered ? Maybe the Lady being there might not have made much difference, but I doubt she would have been as disinterested as he seemed to be.
Has anyone had any similar experiences,or is this sadly just a one-off ?

Just very unexpected, and left a feeling of being deflated.
January 11th does seem a little way off even taking into account Christmas/3 Kings, and if you can't get dealt with quickly at the Social Security office in Torrevieja what would be the point of sending someone there ?
Might be a good call for us to check if the normal Lady makes an appearance, she might help or throw more light on the delay ? Someone there in Rojales on Monday/Wednesday/Friday apparently,at least we got that out of a pretty uninterested assistant.

Viking, did you go upstairs first and sign on the padron? We had no problem getting the sip card after we did that

We had the lot including a recent padron, probably more than was needed (plus lots of copies).
Not as if we were after a non-resident SIP card in place of an ENIC (as Rojales give out),this was for permanent Spanish Healthcare using an S1 from the UK.

Viking, this does not sound to be the normal procedure. We took all the relevant documents down to the Lady almost 5 weeks ago. She photo copied them all and said come back in 4 weeks, which we did and was then told to come back maybe next week. This Thursday we will try again but she did ask on both occasions if we had a temporary SIP card and to continue using that.
She has been there on a Tuesday and Thursday whenever we have been into the Town Hall.
Maybe try those days.

We ended up going there 5 times altogether. If nothing else it taught us patience is a virtue here. Good luck.
