Exchanging UK licence /scooters

Postby DaveLaMata » Mon Dec 31, 2018 8:36 pm

If I exchange my UK licence for a Spanish one will it enable me to have the A1 catorory - enabling me to ride 125cc scooter under 15hp without taking any test? If so, will I then be able to use it to ride up to 125cc back in the UK without taking a CBT first/need to have L plates? Seems Spanish allow A1 for a full licence and in the UK a Spain licence is valid so surely the A1 part must be valid also?

I would have thought in Spain you could as if you passed a Spanish test you get A1 on the licence & the UK test is equally if not more thorough as the Spain test. Makes no sense that bit.

I don't stay in Spain for more than 6 months so not resident. Therefore would I need to change my UK licence to spanish after Brexit? My guess is no.

Hi all I have exchanged my UK license for a Spanish license for over 10 years now and under Grandfather rights ( i.e. if you have had a licence since before 1977 you have those rights ) I have been able to use a 125 scooter with no problem. In that time been stopped various times by Trafico Guadia and never had a problem, but I am a resident and that will make a difference.
They may take our lives but they will never take our FREEDOM
