Half pigeon half parrot?

There's a cluster of pigeon 'houses' in the campo next to the El Recorral park at the end of the golf course. They fly them birds as a group and the idea is the first one to mate with the poor female is the winner. They all landed in the bougainvillea at the front of our garden one day last year which was quite a sight - and then a dozen Spaniards arrived to try to see which one had the female! The birds are tame and happily went back into the carrier he had for them after the ritual was complete. They look like a flying rainbow when they swirl over the gold course. We did have an escapee wandering down our road the other day - but he finally flew off to find his friends.

I used to race pigeons.. and I crossed them with parrots... so they could ask the way home if they got lost.
