Yes - you're right.
I remember when the pub ( El mundos ) first opened.
It was all live music that they put on .
But , that was before the area became awash with lap top performers.
I'm not decrying them- some are very good.
But it does make things more difficult for live bands now.

Speaking personally,I'm not a fan of laptop performers.As a rock music fan I much prefer bands but there are not many around.I suspect that most venues couldn't afford the price difference between a band and a solo singer some of whom sound rather like my karaoke efforts.I enjoy the Monday live rock at JRs and the AC/DC tribute on the occasional visit to Benidorm.I'd like to see rock bands advertise their gigs in the area.
