Where to buy basic tool box

Where to buy basic tool box

Postby PGA » Tue Apr 09, 2019 11:19 am

I want to buy a "base" set of tools - preferably as part of a small set with a box. Mixed screwdrivers, pliars, mole grips, spirit level, allen keys etc sort of thing.

Any recommendations where? Leroy Marlin? (I can't find any kits on their website).

I’d buy the individual items yourself and assemble the toolkit. That way, you get the things you want.
If you buy from Leroy Merlin then you’ll get good quality, but pay more.
If you buy from Chinese shops then you’ll pay less, but the quality will also be lower.

The one thing I would buy from a Chinese shop is the toolbox. They’re extremely over priced in Leroy Merlin.
I’d also say that skimping on the quality of screwdrivers is a false economy.

Pete.

Leroy Merlin is just dressed up Chinese tools. Have a look at https://www.manomano.es/

That looks exactly what I am after. I presume they are online only and don't have any physical stores you can inspect items/collect from?

You could always try your local Ferreteria. Ours, in La Florida, is excellent and they have another outlet in C.C. Lo Marabu, just down the road from Ciudad Quesada, towards Torrevieja. I've bought a few things from Aldi & Lidl and are reasonable quality. Try to steer well clear of Chino's though, unless you need a screwdriver to open a can of paint.

Definitely don't buy Chinese tools if you want to use them more than once

Cabanero and Everak are two very professional stores on the road between Almoradi and Dolores, they sell all sorts of high quality tools and specialist machinery.
