The Mayor of Torrevieja has issued a warning not to go out unless an emergency.

Be aware most of the roads are flooded around Torre this morning.

I need to get to Habaneros from Punta Prima. Are the main roads passable?

We were in the carrefour area when a heavy rainstorm came a few years ago and when we started to drive back the small roads around there were so flooded that the water came half way up the sides of the car . It was really scary until we managed to get out onto the main road. Don't forget to gently press the brakes a few times after going through floods or you can aqua plane - very dangerous.

Best to stay at home.

Lucky, if the water gets up the exhaust you need to keep the revs up high to prevent water in cylinders, which is curtains for the engine.. The only situation where exhaust vacuum scavenging is your enemy
