PUCHERO at Mercadona
PUCHERO at Mercadona
by Stephanie » Wed Apr 24, 2019 1:35 pm
Seeing this PUCHERO on sale this week on the meat counter, I thought, why not try it?
So I looked it up on the internet and found it was the ingredients to make a Spanish stew. I have to say that this is absolutely delicious!
Chop an onion and sauté on medium heat for 10 mins. Add plenty of garlic and a tin of chopped tomatoes (or fresh if you prefer) and sauté for another 10 minutes.
Then add the PUCHERO from the Mercadona. Cover with boiling water and simmer gently for two hours.
Top up water if required.
After two hours, take out the meat and take it off the bones. (I left the marrow bone in the stew)
Add the meat back to the stew, add carrots, potatoes, celery, chard, cabbage......whatever you fancy.
Total cost from San Miguel market 3 euros.
Season to taste and boil for a further 20 minutes. I also added some Pimentón Picante and some rosemary.
Serve with crusty bread. Now I know how the Spanish make such delicious stews. Yum! And enough for six people.

It wasn’t crappy meat, it was delicious. Chicken leg and thighs, beef, marrow bone and pork.

Just Googled the word Puchero and it has a couple of definitions:- Cooking Pot... Stew Pot... Stew so I would imagine you could throw just about any meat in there as the last post stated. I love a tasty stew also.
