Hi

My wife has had asthma since she was a little girl

She had a severe asthma attack in the UK a month ago and is here recuperating because the air is so much cleaner

Best to get a professional medical assessment to try to understand what is triggering the asthma

Hope you get some relief

I had asthma for many years.. it was getting worse... I came over here hoping the asthma would improve, but it didn´t..

I saw a specialist at Torrevieja hospital who did various tests and told me I had Tuberculosis .. Arggghhh!!! :(
.

I was treated with antibiotics for 10 months and the TB has now gone. :D

I have not felt so well in ten years... :D

So... see a doctor... you never know...

My wife has asthma for most of her life.
But after moving to Spain 12 years ago she has not had any problems.
We have gas central heating which also helps.

I moved here 19 years ago, and for the first five years, I suffered a constant cough, trouble breathing and itchy eyes, but only from April to July. It wasn´t until it got much worse and was struggling for breath, I went to the clinic, who told me I was having an asthmatic crisis and put me on a nebuliser. I did go on holiday during that time, and the cough disappeared completely until I came back to Quesada, so i assume I am allergic to something in Quesada, probably dust or pollen. However, I have not suffered it again for several years to that extent, just watering itchy eyes. I never ever had it in England.

Thank you all for your help, I am popping back to the UK for a few days soon so I will see if things improve when I get there. The doctor here gave me some antihistamines and inhalers which help a little and I will persevere with them but it's the answer to my problem. I would hate to be allergic to Spain as it's such a beautiful place. Watch this space....

Spain doesnt have pollen levels like they do in UK, this isnt a 'green and pleasant land, and the further east you go the less the pollen gets.. Its more likely to be humidity or damp.

heres a live pollen map

with all the orange n lemon groves around here ,if you live close to them there will be pollen around, there must be plenty pollen as a lot of the Spanish who live in the local villages/country keep bees for honey ,theres 2 near me that iv noticed and we in center of village, and it takes a lot of pollen to make a kg of honey!,Could be high dust levels due to all the building work ,

Constructive, thank you.
I am close to a few of the things you suggest and that could be the reason. I am starting to think it gets worse when the wind picks up as well. I don't think it's damp as we have central heating etc and as for humidity, I have spent some time in the jungle of Belize with no I'll effect and it's not anything like that kind of humidity here lol.

Orange and lemons have finished flowering so not them now. More likely grasses as in full flower now.
Loads on everywhere...
