El Marquesa 8th hole

can anyone shed some light on what they are doing on the 8th hole?
It looks like they are putting a new green before the dogleg over the ditch plus reshaping the 8th green. Are they splitting it into two short holes? If so why?

Golf clubs tend to put in a temporary green when an existing green is in need of repair or upgrading, the best thing to do is ask at the Pro shop.

You wont get an answer at the pro shop. It is like the secret service. We play there 3 times a week and have to guess what is going on. To be fair Pasqual ( director of golf) has said he will post the plans on the board this week. The good part is they are trying to improve the course with 3 new greens and a lot of other work.

The dust from their work on Calle Zeus is terrible,must be bad for people playing golf

Having arrived a couple of days ago and had a nosey at the work going on, it seems to me that they are attempting to replicate the famous island green, the 17th at Sawgrass. The position of the walkway, bunker, shape and slope of the green suggest this.

The lower part of the course took a lot of damage as a result of the flooding. It looks like a lot of the turf died of. There seems to be a huge amount of work going on at the moment. I note the pond at the bottom end has been drained, there were large sections of the liner floating above the surface after the flood.

True about the dust, it is horrendous.

They are having to raise certain holes by up to 1.8 metres.( insurance apparently insist). They are removing soil from surrounding hills to do this so I am afraid the dust issue is going to continue. It is envisaged the course may be fully open by February. It will be great when finished but at the moment it is not looking or playing it's best.

And get ready for the inevitable price hike.

Very negative. Mickey. Price has already been set for next 12 months. Still one of the best priced courses about the area.
