A few nights in Madrid

Another suggestion!

Travel by train to the city of CUENCA.....€15
Stay overnight, see the hanging houses, enjoy all the beautiful sights.
Train to Madrid €11.70
Find a good central hotel or apartment.
Take a bus to Sagovia...ancient Roman city with stunning aqueduct . Arrange a meal of SUCKLING PIG in one of their specialised restaurants, the maitre’d will tell the history of how they used to eat and serve the suckling pig and serve it in the authentic way ( don’t want to spoil it for you with any more info)
Do your research, know where and what you want to see and enjoy yourselves.

We have driven to Madrid many times. It's very easy and takes about 4 hours driving time plus whatever stops you want. We've parked at hotels before (usually charged at around €15 per night), but most recently parked our car on a street on the South side (San Fermin) and took the metro in. Be aware that the very centre of Madrid is now restricted for cars with higher emissions. Metro is easy too. We got a ten ride ticket (like an Oyster card) - you can get one and put, say, 20 rides on it if there are two of you.

Hi Elpando,
If you do drive you might need an emission sticker on your car I believe You need one if you drive into Madrid.
These can be picked up from the post office in Spain for a few euros.
Hope this is of some help.

Thank you to all for the posts. Plenty to think about there. Also we will look into those dates for the Lo Crispin DCA trip to see if they fit in.
