I am considering putting a carpet on one flight of stairs because they can get so slippery, any recommendations please, Thanks in Advance,

We had the same problem, especially when coming down after a shower.
Rather than carpet the whole stairs, I fitted stair carpet sections which are excellent. We actually got ours from Aldi but that was some 6 or 7 years ago but Amazon sells them as well.
