Water heater leak - Plumber required in Rojales area.

Postby robl » Fri Jun 21, 2019 3:01 pm

Hi people,

Can anyone recommend a plumber in the Rojales/Quesada area that can take a look at our electric water heater? It looks like the pressure valve may need replacing as there's a constant drip (that has previously stopped but now doesn't). I've read its not a big job and doesn't need a fully trained plumber but I don't have the confidence. Any ideas of anyone that can take a look.
Thanks

The vavle does pass water sometimes more sfter a shower or barh connect small tube and run to drain or sink this will get you by for a bit also try opening the valve and run for short while piece of grit or something may be trapped in the seal thus preventing it closing fully

Having read the symptoms fully, it is the pressure relief valve which is designed to leak.
As water heats it expands and would over-pressurise the cyclinder, so the excess drips out.
If it is a problem, add a short piece of rubber or plastic tube - can be bought from fereteria - & put it into a container.

We had the same problem so we were getting a new kitchen so decided to get a new water tank. Surprise surprise, the new tank does exactly the same. What Martin says is correct, you’re not going to stop it dripping. I’ve heard some people put a small tube from the leak going through the wall to outside the house. We just put a small container underneath to collect the water. It only leaks when heating the water, so it’s not all the time
