Beware scam at zoco

Beware scam at zoco

Postby Ireneinveraray » Thu Jul 04, 2019 1:00 am

I was buying a nightdress at a stall at zoco market and my husband handed over a50 e note. While the man was getting the change I was approached by another man asking if I wanted to buy. I said I’ve paid the other man. He said oh okay and then ran away. So be sure you are handing your money to the right person.

I used to have a stall at Zoco Market we used to always advise people not to carry any notes bigger than 20 euros, unfortunately one of the scams that used to happen was someone would want to purchase an item for say 3 euros give you a 50 euro note you give them the change, to find out that it was a forgery. Pickpockets are around every market and they are watching people getting their purses and wallets out and when they can see you are carrying notes especially larger than 20 they will follow you. Please, from an retired market stall holder dont carry large notes, if you go to the cash machine, get out 40 euros, you will then get 20s 10s, if you get out 50 euros you will get a 50 euro note.

Try and keep an eye on people always walking behind you at a Market. At Guardamar Wednesday Market I had a feeling the young couple had been stopping behind me for a while so I just turned round and faced them and they moved on.
