Currency transfer

Currency transfer

Postby Steev999 » Tue Jul 09, 2019 10:28 am

Hello All,

We have sold a house in the area, and are coming to Spain to sign at the notary office next week. I was just wondering if anyone could give advice as to the best, safest and cost effective way of returning the euro bankers draft to a UK bank account into pounds please?

Can anyone recommend a money transfer company that they have dealt with recently please?

Thanks in anticipation

Hello Steve
I have always used currenciesdirect.com
You can speak to them over the phone or online, they will explain everything.
I have used them to transfer money since 2005 to Spain, UK and Australia with ease.
You can see their live online rate of exchange too.

transferwise, you don't need to sign in to see how much it charges you, just go to the home page and enter the currencies, and amounts, and it will show you everything before you even log in, no commitment. if you think its no good, carry on looking. good luck

I’ve just recently used Moneycorp. They have an office In Quesada and surrounding areas. You can the speak to someone face to face. I endorsed the bankers draft and they dealt with it directly without the need to pay into a bank account first. Very straightforward.

Hi All,

many thanks for the replies.

Curious, did you just take your bank draft from the Notary office and hand it in yourself to Moneycorp, and they transferred the amount in pounds back to your UK account?

regards

Just realised, you says bankers draft, so I’m guessing that means not transferring from a bank account?

If that’s the case and it was me, I would have a difficult time in knowing who to trust with the cheque and knowing that my money isn’t just going to disappear in the hands of crooks. I’m sure I’m just paranoid, there’s no crook about anymore? lol

I would prefer to transfer from a Spanish bank account, to the U.K bank account, via transferwise, but just my choice. Hope you suss it out for the best, let us know what you do and if it went well. The info would help me in the future.
