Luggage was to be transferred by airline as it was checked straight through.

I had a delayed suitcase with Vueling, it stayed in Barcelona enroute to Birmingham. Took 5.5 days to go and pick it up at Birmingham Airport.
I had taken insurance with them. I've learnt Spanish, but to complete their online claims form, no chance.
Had a abogada friend complete form and Vueling paid up quickly. However, maximum you can claim is €300.
Oh, and Vueling did not know the location of my suitcase, they thought it was lost. Birmingham lost baggage sorted it.

There are two lost luggage counters at Alicante airport. One is to the right of the arrival gate as you come through. I have yet to find it open.
The other is inside the baggage hall by the carousels. As you need to go back into the arrivals area You need to speak to the guard and explain you need lost luggage and they will let you through. Turn right.
I had a bag lost last year and the lady on the desk most helpful ringing me when it was found.
Good luck

For the record airlines are obliged to deliver missing luggage to it's owner both expeditiously and to an address of their choosing so if they try to tell you you have to collect it from an airport yourself stand your ground.

The downside of that is that you may have to stay at home waiting for it to turn up when you'd rather be doing something else so in some cases (no pun intended) collection may suit you better.

It's generally reckoned that if a missing item isn't at least located within the first 24 hours it's very probable that it never will be!

Changing the subject a little...

What do people put in those great big suitcases..?

We have just been to Greece for nearly three weeks... we took one case that fit in the overhead locker...and a hand bag.. and that was enough..

So what DO people carry in those cases that look like wardrobes with handles?
