Exchange rate

Oh I know, airports are terrible they once wanted to charge me commission for changing a Scottish 20 for an English 20 cheeky sods. I asked in Barcelona the rate for UK to US first they wanted me to change UK to euro then euro to USA. It's only a game we like to play to pass some time. I'd have to be desperate to change money at an airport.

Airports, travel agents, exchange bureaus offer tourist rate which is always lower than the business rate used when transferring money into a bank.

Exactly! Before the idiocy of Brexit started, we were enjoying 1.30 plus.
It has been rubbish for over 3 years and likely to get worse especially if Boris the Buffoon gets in.
Oh well, at least its sunny and wine is cheap!!

When I bought my place the rate was 1.50 and that was before Brexit had been invented.
Do you think it could have something to do with extremely wealthy people/organisations speculating on pretty much anything to make themselves even wealthier? How much did George Soros make on a sterling/euro deal a few years ago in a very short period of time?

I think the lowest the exchange rate has been recently was in 2017, when business rate plummeted to almost £1 for 1 Euro. Personally I can not see it improving, every time the exchange rate rises some mouthy UK politicians says something which knocks it down again. As an aside, why did so many people resident abroad vote to leave the EU? Just curious.

The lowest it went against the euro was about €1.08 in 2017.
