Is it a holiday today?... heard a lot of music seemingly coming from Benijofar way... until 07.10 this morning..

I know it is the feast of St James the apostle, but are the shops open around Rojales, Benijofar etc..?

Local fiesta in Benijofar only ... Mercadona closed ....

Was sitting having a coffee in Rojales when I overheard a lady telling another lady "the market isn't on today" it was rammed when I was there as was Mercadona.

In Rojales, yes. It's a Benijofar holiday so the Mercadona Benijofar is closed whilst the Rojales one is open.
