Leaking boilers are usually a precursor to them fragmenting inside, in which case the leak might eventually become a gush, with water flooding everywhere. Also, the water from a boiler full of hot water is a lot more expensive to lose than if it is cold water, whether it be draining as a drip or sudden total gush. We have had three boilers in 17 years, with similar circumstances precipitating the emergency replacement of two of them. My advice would be to replace it before the flood emergency stage arrives.

We had the same problem. Had it replaced last week cost 330 and it’s no saving us a euro a day on the electricity. It will pay for itself.

Consider a gas water heater, no boiler required and instant hot water. Runs off a gas bottle with unit on outside wall. Very economical as well.
