Some advice please

My laptop had been upgrades to Windows 10 - I keep getting a message that the latest version of Windows 10 can be loaded as I have insufficient memory space

I do not have any data / pictures etc on my hard drive

Is it safe to delete the windows 8 software to make room on the hard drive

Yes, safe to get rid of Windows 8

Any laptop able to run W10 should have sufficient HD space to install updates.

Use https://windirstat.net to find out where all your HD space has gone.

If you find a folder called 'Windows.old' then you can delete it, it's a backup of your old W8 that was created when you first upgraded (downgraded many will say! ) to W10. You cannot recover it now anyway so it's just sitting there wasting space.

If it is a small solid state hard drive and it tells you you cannot install w10 due to insufficient memory you should have the option to use a memory stick or portable hard drive and then w10 will install via that
