Stock piling

Stock piling

Postby Chrisdee » Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:53 pm

You can only stock so much, people are starting to go mad here now stockpiling. I've just come back from Lidl (run out of tonic for my gin) and the queues were horrendous. People were buying trolley loads, hardly any pasta left and not many loo rolls either. All markets are being closed down. I feel sorry for the farmers and stall holders. It's going to be bad for so many families. Called my friend in Madrid tonight and he said all schools and universities are closed and the streets deserted which are normally buzzing.

Was in Consum today, no obvious shortages of anything, except for no hand sanitiser. No queues, no rush on anything. Maybe Lidl have supply chain issues. Though absolutely essential not to run out of tonic for one's gin!!! To reassure you there were cases of tonic in Consumer. ( I stocked up on beer ...)

Talking of not taking it seriously, I happened to be in a well known store in Quesada this afternoon. There was an employee who sneezed numerous times and coughed and spluttered continuously. Not once did he produce a hankerchief or make any attempt to cover his mouth, just sprayed droplets from both orifices in all directions. Pretty disgusting at the best of times but in the current situation.......
Needless to say, I beat a hasty retreat and won't be returning any time soon.

Must be just Lidl. Other places seem fine and no empty shelves.

In all honesty, it isn’t madness at all Anyone who has an underlying health problem would be wise to stock pile as quarantine/ self isolation may be their salvation. My advice is to buy lots of cans of good nourishing food. Long life milk, tea, coffee, rice, pasta, and potatoes . Get lots of fruit in too. Fill your freezer with your favourite meat/chicken /sausages and think of all the little treats you would enjoy during your lock in. Lots of your favourite tipple will do you no harm . Just stay away from people who are coughing persistently. Drink water every 15 minutes to wash down any germs ( they won’t survive in your stomach). Check your breathing by taking a deep breath , hold it in for 10 seconds or more, if you don’t cough or feel a tightness, this is a good sign. Just stay clear of the dreaded corona virus and stay well.

Went into Mercadona this lunchtime, many shelves were empty especially fresh neat, bread, yoghurts, fruit and vegetables. What the gel is up with people? Are all these products going to be cooked, frozen, bottled ir what?
